TUCSON, Ariz. - San José State's women's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season Friday, a 5-1 loss at the hands of No. 54 Arizona.
The Spartans (4-1) came out the gates ready to play and captured the doubles point. The tandems of Sybille Gauvain/Marine Dans and Marie Klocker/Gaelle Rey each prevailed after the Spartans had lost at No. 3, giving the Spartans the early 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats (7-2) turned it around in singles action, however, and rattled off five straight wins to ice the match. Marie Klocker's perfect singles record remains standing, as her match went unfinished.
San José State is back in action Saturday at 12:00 p.m. MT/11:00 a.m. PT, when it visits No. 27 Arizona State.
