Five Spartans Receive Academic Honors

Philadelphia, Pa. --- Five members of the San Jose State men's water polo team were selected to the 2015 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Men's All-Academic Team for their performance in academics.

San Jose State's junior John Moon was the only Spartan to be selected to the Superior team, obtaining a grade-point average between 3.41 to 3.70. Selected as members of the Excellent team, juniors Nick Serratos and Tyler Jamieson and freshmen Alek Dendall and Zachary Scudder earned grade-point averages between 3.20 and 3.40 in the classroom.

The five Spartans were among the 326 student-athletes selected by the ACWPC. The selections are divided into three teams based on cumulative grade-point average, Outstanding, earning a grade-point average of 3.71 to 4.00, Superior and Excellent.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member of the ACWPC, while the athlete must attain a grade point average in excess of 3.20.
