FORT WORTH, Texas - After a strong showing Monday against SMU, the Spartans could not reproduce the outcome in a 4-0 loss at No. 25 TCU on Tuesday night at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Spartans fell to 8-6 on the spring with the loss, while No. 35 TCU (9-2) rattled off its seventh consecutive victory. Tuesday also marked the Horned Frogs' second victory of the day, after they topped Louisiana Tech 4-0 in an 11:00 a.m. CT match.
Sybille Gauvain and Marine Dans got San José State halfway to capturing the doubles point with their commanding 6-1 win over Marie Norris and Alexis Pereira, but No. 27 Seda Arantekin and Caroline Wegner pulled out a narrow 7-5 win over Marie Klocker and Gaelle Rey to give the Horned Frogs a 1-0 lead.
TCU took the momentum into singles action and swept the first three matches to seal its ninth win of the season.
The Spartans open Mountain West play when they visit UNLV and San Diego State on Thursday Friday and Sunday, respectively.
