Aztecs Spoil Spartans' Senior Day In Rain-Shortened Affair

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose State and San Diego State gritted through a rainy Saturday afternoon at Municipal Stadium, with the Aztecs prevailing 6-0 in a rain-shortened contest.

The Spartans finished the regular season at 17-38 overall and 7-23 in Mountain West action. The Aztecs finished one spot higher in the standings at 19-36 overall and 11-19 in the conference. The schools will face off in the play-in game of the Mountain West Championship on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. MT/10:00 a.m. PT in Albuquerque.

Prior to the Saturday's game, San Jose State recognized its five seniors - Ozzy Braff, Jonathan Hernandez, Tyler Olivet, Mitch Ravizza and Dillan Smith - in a Senior Day ceremony. It continued honoring them and their families at the team's annual luau at the Stephens Family Pitching and Hitting Facility following the game.

San Diego state plated a run in the first, four in the second and one in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. San Jose State picked up two hits - a Braff double and Michael Breen single - against four different Aztec hurlers.

The game was called after the fifth inning due to wet field conditions at Municipal Stadium.
