Tyler Olivet Season 2014

AT SAN JOSÉ STATE: In his third season with the Spartans…Graduated with a degree in communication studies in December 2015…Currently enrolled in graduate school and majoring in interdisciplinary studies…Started 47 games over his first two seasons after transferring from Cabrillo College…Patient hitter who enters the season having drawn 36 walks and been hit by 9 pitches in 209 career plate appearances…Will compete for time at the corner outfield spots in 2016.

2015: Played in 38 games and made 20 starts (14 LF, 4 RF, 2 DH)…Hit .190 in 58 at-bats…Scored 12 runs and drove in seven…Walked 12 times and was hit by four pitches…Fourth on the team with a .360 on-base percentage…Also fourth with four steals… Reached base in 11 consecutive games (2/15-3/10)… Tripled, had two RBIs and was hit by two pitches against Northern Colorado (2/22)… Went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and walk at UC Irvine (3/14).

2014: The Opening Day starter at second base…Played in 37 games and made 27 starts (24 at second, 2 in left field, 1 in right field)…Hit .165 in 91 at-bats, scoring 10 runs and driving in six…Led the team with 24 walks (had 17 walks between Opening Day and March 8)…Finished the year with a pinch-hit single at the Mountain West Championship tournament against Nevada (5/22).

COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Played the 2013 season at Cabrillo College in Aptos, Calif. …A California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA) All-American as a freshman for the Seahawks…His .386 batting average and 11 doubles led the team that went on to be the 2013 Coast Conference champions…Also led the team and was fifth in the conference with a .500 on-base percentage…Named a First-Team All-Coast Conference selection as an outfielder.

SANTA CLARA UNIVERSITY: Enrolled in the university and redshirted the 2012 season before transferring to Cabrillo College.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Los Gatos (Calif.) High School…A four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats…Hit over .400 during both his junior and senior year and was a first-team All-Central Coast League selection in those seasons…Also received All-Mercury News Team honors as a junior and senior…Earned first-team all-league honors as a member of the defense for Los Gatos' football team.
