San Jose, Calif.-The San José State University women's gymnastics team had 13 gymnasts named as 2016 National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Scholastic All-Americans. To qualify for individual honors, the student-athletes must have earned a 3.50 grade-point average for either the year or their career.
Seven Spartan gymnasts received the honor for multiple years. Allison Bellingham received the honors all four years, followed by Amy Bellingham, Hannah Gilbert and Alyssa Kaschak for three years, and Alisa Bogdan, Maddie Herr and Erica Matos for two years.
"I am really proud of our accomplishments in the classroom this year," said Spartan head coach Wayne Wright. "These honors show that we are committed to academic and athletic excellence here at San José State."
Overall, the Spartans had 3.44 gpa to finish 29th in the team standings. This is the third consecutive year the team has had 10 or more honorees.
