San José State women's soccer travels to Boise, Idaho this week to face UC Irvine and Seattle University as part of Boise State's in-season tournament. Both matches will be live streamed on the Mountain West Network, found using the links below. The Spartans hope to bring momentum from the double-overtime victory over Sacramento State last Sunday into this weekends matches. Spartan fans can plan to have breakfast and watch the Spartans on Sunday morning, as the match begins at 10:00 a.m. (PT).

But the Spartans bounced in the 105th minute when Alexis Venegas (Sr., MF, Van Nuys, Calif.) scored the game-winner.FINALLY GOT ONE TO GO - AND IT WAS GOLDENAlexis Venegas took a deflection inside the box and put it past the keeper for a golden goal in the 105th minute of double-overtime to defeat Sacramento State 1-0. If you count the shots from the 0-0 draw against UC Riverside two days earlier, the Spartans took 37 shots with 16 going on goal before putting one into the back of the net in 2016.SHOTS ALL AROUNDSan José State put 17 of 38 shots on goal combined in two matches last week. There were six Spartans in each match with a shot on goal. Dorthe Hoppius (Jr., F, Dorsten, Germany) leads the way with four out of 13 shots on target. Her 13 shots led the Mountain West during the first week of play.SPARTAN UP, BUCKLE DOWNThe San José State defense has picked up right where it left off last season, buckling down for two shutouts to begin 2016. Last year's team recorded six shutouts during Mountain West play, and it didn't seem like the defense missed a beat in the first two matches. Captains Claire Berkely (Jr., D, Pleasanton, Calif.) and Hayden Kelley (Sr., D, Murrieta, Calif.) together with Kristen Amerikwa (Fr., D, Bakersfield, Calif.) and others clamped down on the opponents to the tune of five shots on goal in 214:18 of gametime.SIMONEAU EARNS FIRST WIN AS A SPARTANThe victory in double-overtime over Sacramento State gave Paige Simoneau (So., GK, Corona, Calif.) the first win of her SJSU career. She appeared in six matches last season as a freshman, including two Mountain West Tournament games where she was the hero who stifled three penalty kicks. But the next phase of her career as the everyday keeper is off to a nice start with consecutive shutouts.SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UC IRVINEUC Irvine leads San José State 7-2-0 in the all-time series dating back to 1997. The Anteaters head into the match after convincing wins over Fairfield (4-2) and Saint Mary's (2-0). The last time the two teams met resulted in a 2-1 UCI victory in double-overtime. The Spartans' last win against the Anteaters was October 7, 2007 by a score of 2-1 inside CEFCU Stadium - Home of the Spartans.SERIES HISTORY AGAINST SEATTLE UNIVERSITYNot much history exists between the Spartans and Redhawks. Fans attending home matches should plan to park in the lot on the west side of Seventh Street. There are no bleachers or seats provided, so plan to bring your own lawn chair or blanket and follow on-site directions for seating areas. There is no admission charge for home matches in 2016.SPARTANS PICKED SECOND IN PRESEASON POLLSan José State was predicted to finish second in the Mountain West by the conference's preseason coaches' poll. The Spartans received three first-place votes, while San Diego State received nine and is the preseason favorite. SJSU was predicted to finish seventh in the same poll prior to last season before eventually winning the Mountain West Tournament.
