San Jose, Calif. - Senior Marie Klocker and junior Sybille Gauvain will start competition Saturday, October 1 in the Riviera/ITA Women's Tennis All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. This marks the first time in SJSU women's tennis history the team has singles entries in the top college fall tournament.
"We are very excited to have Marie and Sybille in the Pre-qualifying tournament starting on Saturday," said women's tennis head coach Chad Skorupka. "Every opponent they face will be a top opponent on their team."
Klocker's first match is at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Gauvain also gets started on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
To advance to the next round of tournament, each must win three matches over the course of the weekend.
The duo is entered into the doubles draw as well and starts doubles play on Tuesday, October 4 in the qualification phase.
For Klocker, this year's Riviera/ITA All-American Championship is her second. She competed with fellow senior Gaelle Rey in the 2014 doubles draw of the tournament.
Results from the Riviera/ITA Women's Tennis All-American Championships will be updated throughout the tournament on the ITA Website.
The women's championship runs from October 1 through October 9.
