Burlington, Iowa - The San José State University men's golf team is in second place at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at seven-under 569 after 36 holes. The Spartans are six strokes behind Kansas.
The Spartans have two players in the top-10 on the scoreboard at Spirit Hollow Golf Course. Junior Matthew Murray made five birdies and three bogeys for a two-under par 70 and climbed the scoreboard to eighth place with a score of 141. Tied in fourth place is William Barnett who shot a 72 for a four-under 140.
Junior Scott Munger is in 13th place with at 143 after a three-over par 75. Kevin Velo fell to 20th place at one-over 145.
After the round on Saturday head coach John Kennaday said, "We need to be a little more present in our activities, and our processes. We must be disciplined and have faith in our processes."
Sean Talmadge did not play in the second round due to injury.
