Fairfax, Calif. - The San José State University men's golf team is in 13th after 36 holes of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.
The Spartans have a team score of 568 on the par 71, 6734 yard Meadow Club Golf Course. San José State is 28 strokes behind first-place tournament co-leaders Saint Mary's and Pepperdine both with a 24-under par 544.
Scott Munger and Matthew Murray are the top Spartans individually heading into the final 18 holes. They are tied for 44th place at an even-par 142. Kevin Velo had the best round of the day for the Spartans, a two-under par 69 to tie for 57th place. William Barnett had an even par round of 71 in the morning and has a 145 total.
Ki-Taek Lee of Arizona State is the tournament's individual leader heading into the final round at 130 after rounds of 66 and 64. Shahith Theegala of Pepperdine is next at 131. Sixteen golfers posted sub-70's scores in the morning and afternoon rounds.
