The San José State women's golf team is back in action beginning tomorrow, October 14, at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice at the Stanford Golf Course. The three-day tournament runs Friday through Sunday, and admission is free.

The Spartans are one of 18 teams in the field (Golfstat rankings) - Stanford (2), Southern California (3), Georgia (4), Florida (5) UCLA (8), Oklahoma State (16), Northwestern (17), Arizona State (22), San José State (28), San Diego State (31), Pepperdine (37), Colorado (38), California (47), Iowa State (52), UC Davis (87), San Francisco (131) and defending national champions Washington.

The Spartan lineup for the tournament includes My Leander, Elizabeth Schultz, Abegail Arevalo, Alexandra Cooper and Franziska Friedrich. Leander, the Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Month for September, is looking for her third top-10 finish in as many tournaments. San José State started the season with a win at the Ptarmigan Fall Classic and followed that up with a second-place finish at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational.

Tee times on Friday and Saturday start at 8:30 a.m., while Sunday's final round begins at 7:30 a.m., off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.

The Spartans have won this tournament twice - 1995 and 1996. Two players also won the individual title - Vibeke Stensrud in 1995 and Janice Moodie in 1996. Last year, the team finished 14th among 17 teams.
