SJSU vs. La Verne Match Stats
Santa Barbara, Calif. -- The San Jose State men's water polo team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, October 15 in Santa Barbara against Whittier and La Verne.
"Today was a good indication of our improvement and growth," said SJSU head coach Bruce Watson. "We have a very competitive group."
In their first match of the day, the Spartans (4-11) took down Whittier 10-7. SJSU was led by Ben Hauschild who put away three goals against the Poets (11-8).
In the second match, SJSU defeated La Verne 13-7. The Spartans had five players with multiple goals and Davor Koret led the Spartans with three goals. The Leopards (2-13) struck first with a Joshua Vega goal at the 3:46 mark in the first period goal but that was the only time the Spartans trailed for the rest of the way.
Up next for the Spartans is #18-UC Irvine in a Golden Coast Conference matchup. The teams will clash Friday, October 21 in Saratoga, Calif.
