Fresno, Calif.-----San Jose State University opened its 2016-17 women's swimming season with three fourth-place finishes on the first day of the Chick-fil-A invitational.
Junior Brenna Bushey in the 100 fly with a time of 56.25, junior Colleen Humel, in the 100 back at 57.23, and the 200 medley relay team of Humel, Taylor Solorio, Bushey, and Antoinette Loya finished fourth in their respective events.
The Spartans also had three fifths and one sixth-place finish. Taylor Lehr swam the 200 free at 1:54.29, freshman Lani Auva'a had a 57.22 in the 100 fly and the 800 free relay team of Humel, Lehr, Marley Maluafiti, and Katie McIntee finished fifth with a time of 7:47.24.
Diver Cari Reiswig was sixth in the 3-meter dive with 265.00 points.
In the team scoring, San Jose State is in fifth place with 255 points. Boise State leads the team scoring with 587.
The two-day meet concludes Saturday October 8th with seven events starting at 10:00 a.m.
