FINAL MATCH OF 2016: The San José State volleyball team plays the final match of the 2016 season Tuesday night as the Spartans host rival Fresno State at Spartan Gym. This will be the only meeting of the season between the two teams due to Mountain West scheduling. The teams are tied for ninth place, with the winner finishing no worse than ninth in the standings but could tie for eighth with New Mexico if the Lobos lose at UNLV on Tuesday.

SENIOR NIGHT: Spartan senior Julie Sam will be honored Tuesday night after the final match of the season. Sam is a two-year member of the indoor team and the beach team. She is a Mountain West Scholar Athlete, Academic All-Mountain West honoree, an Arthur Ashe, Jr., Sports Scholar, first team for volleyball and a San José State President's Scholar. She is a hospitality, tourism and event management major.

ABOUT FRESNO STATE: The Bulldogs enter Tuesday night's match with a 14-14 overall record and 5-12 MW mark. The team defeated Utah State, 3-1, at home last Wednesday. Aleisha Coates leads the team with 374 kills, 3.60 per set, while Jacqueline Hutcheson leads the conference in service aces with 52, 0.50 ps.

HEAD COACH Jolene Shepardson: San José State head coach Jolene Shepardson is in her third season at the helm of the program. She has a 29-60 record in three seasons at SJSU, and a 72-107 coaching record in six seasons.

FINAL POINT AT AIR FORCE VERY UNIQUE: Up 14-13 at Air Force on November 10, match point for San José State came from a unique play. With the Falcons serving, Luiza Andrade received the serve, but the pass went back over the net and fell between three Air Force players for the San José State victory. Andrade has only seven kills in her two seasons as a Spartan.

GAMA JOINS ELITE SPARTAN BLOCKING COMPANY: With 124 block assists on the season, Nandyala Gama is still in third place on the San José State single season block assists list. Gama is the first player to enter the top-10 in block assists since the 2002 season when Stephanie Pasccuci and Liz Hudson each entered the list. The school record is 134, set by Hudson during the 2001 season.

Gama also entered the single-season San José State total blocks list. She begins the week with 133 blocks, tying former Spartan Melissa Myers. Gama needs one block to move into seventh, four for sixth place and six blocks for fifth place. Kim Hicks set the school record with 151 blocks in 1988.
