Men's Basketball Sails To 109-70 Win Over Life Pacific College

San Jose, Calif. --- Cody Schwartz erupted for five 3-pointers in the second half and the San José State men's basketball team defeated Life Pacific College, 109-70, in a nonconference game inside The Event Center.

San José State hit the century mark for the second time this season, making it the first year with multiple 100-point games since 1970-71 - The Spartans defeated West Coast Baptist by the same score, 109-70, in the season opener.

Brandon Clarke nearly had a double-double in the first half with 12 points and nine rebounds - which was one more rebound than the entire Warriors team in the first 20 minutes. Clarke finished with a game-high 18 points in as many minutes.

The Spartans (5-4) went into the half with a 59-30 lead.

Behind Schwartz's display from downtown, San José State hit a season-high 13 3-pointers. Three out of four assists for Gary Williams, Jr., came when he found Schwartz in his sweet spot beyond the arc. Williams finished with 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Jaycee Hillsman recorded the first double-double of his career with 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. His layup with 3:00 left in the second period gave SJSU its largest lead, 105-59.

Ryan Welage scored 14 points and Terrell Brown finished with 10 points to round out SJSU's double-digit scorers.

San Jose State had a season-high 30 assists and just 11 turnovers. The Spartans also outrebounded the Warriors, 48-18.

Guard Mark Eden and forward Ramez Michail led Life Pacific (5-5) in scoring with 15 each.

San José State returns to action after fall semester final exams to face Bowling Green in a December 18, 2:00 p.m. non-conference home game at The Event Center.
