Women's Swimming & Diving Opens Dual Meet Season At UC Santa Cruz

After a strong fifth-place finish at the A3 Performance Invitational, the San José State University women's swimming and diving team opens its dual meet season Saturday, December with a double dual meet at UC Santa Cruz. Besides taking on the Banana Slugs at the UCSC Aquatics Center, the Spartans also face Cal Lutheran in the meet that begins at 2:00 p.m.

San Jose State (0-0) was ranked as high as 38th nationally and eighth among mid-majors in CollegeSwimming.com's ranking following the three-day A3 Performance Invitational in Monterey Park, Calif. Brenna Bushey in the 100 fly and Colleen Humel in the 100 and 200 back led the way with their NCAA Championship "B" cut swims.

As of December 2, CollegeSwimming.com lists the Spartans as 27th among women's mid-major programs.

There will be 13 events in the Spartans dual meet opener in Santa Cruz with scoring from first to eighth place.
