DEZZ SELECTED MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In SJSU's 107-84 win over the Nevada Wolf Pack (12/29), senior point guard Dezz Ramos had one of the best games in SJSU women's basketball history. She scored 40 points, had eight assists and got five steals. For that performance has been selected the Mountain West Player of the Week.
The 40 points are a career-high and was a point from equaling the program's single-game record of 41 points, set by Hulett Brooks against Sacramento State on December 10, 1993. She shot 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the field, including 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from beyond the three-point line and was 6-for-6 from the line. Her eight assists led to 20 points and the team scored 10 points off her five steals.
She joins Brooks as the only Spartans in the 43-year history of the program to score 40 points in a game. In addition, her total ties for the second most by a Mountain West player in a conference game since the conference's inception in 1999. The Spartans 107 points ties the record for points by one team in a MW conference game.
With the Spartans holding a 56-48 lead at the half, the West Valley, Utah native and 15th leading scorer in the nation opened the third quarter with three consecutive three-pointers that sparked a 19-3 run which blew the game open. She scored 11 points in the surge, 17 in the quarter to put the game out of reach.
JASMINE 15TH SPARTAN TO SCORE 1,000 POINTS
On a three-point play in the first quarter of the team's game against Nevada (12/29), Jasmine Smith (Sr., F, Burbank, Calif.) became the 15th player in the history of San José State women's basketball to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Finishing the Nevada game with 18 points, Smith currently has 1,011 career points, eight points from #14 Lora Alexander (1,019 pts., 1989-90) and 23 points from #13 Riana Byrd (1,034 pts.., 2013-16).
MORE GOOD STUFF FOR JASMINE
Now that she has passed1,000-points scored for her career, Jasmine Smith (Sr., F, Burbank, Calif.) is on pace to join an even more exclusive club. With 675 career rebounds, Smith is just 25 from becoming just the fifth player to wear the Gold, White and Blue to have scored 1,000 points and grabbed 700 rebounds. She would join Elinor Banks (1,672 pts./1,062 rebs.), Lamisha Augustine (1,226 pts./700 rebs.), Rhoda Chew (1,188 pts./946 rebs.) and Riana Byrd (1,034 pts./1,038 rebs.) as the only Spartans to reach the milestone.
DEZZ COULD GET TO 1,000 POINTS AS A SPARTAN AS WELL
SeniorDezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah) was the second-leading scorer in the Mountain West last season averaging 18.1 points per game and this season has up that to 20.7 through the first 13 games. She has scored 795 points in 42 games as a Spartans and is on pace to become just the second SJSU women's basketball player to score 1,000 points in her first two seasons. If she stays at her current scoring pace, she will reach 1,000 points in 10 more games, 52 total games. She would join SJSU Hall of Famer Lora Alexander as the only Spartan to accomplish the feat. Alexander scored 1,019 points in 56 games.

Through 13 games, San José State has used exactly one starting lineup - Myzhanique Ladd (Jr., G, Seattle, Wash.), Paris Baird (Sr., F, Van Nuys, Calif.), Jasmine Smith (Sr., F, Burbank, Calif.), Rachol West (Sr., G, Bakersfield, Calif.) & Dezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah). Thirteen games in a row with the same starters, is the longest streak in head coach Jamie Craighead's four seasons in San Jose.

With 14 points and 13 rebounds in the 107-84 victory against Nevada (12/29),Myzhanique Ladd (Jr., G, Seattle, Wash.) picked up the second double double of her career. The 13 boards are a career-high and she currently ranks second on the team with 79 on the season (6.1/g). If she stays at her current pace she will set new season bests in rebounds (183), assists (67) and points (236).
IS HALLIE HEATING UP?
Hallie Gennett (Jr., F, Post Falls, Idaho) had possibly her best night as a Spartan in the team's 107-84 victory over Nevada (12/29). Gennett grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and was deadly from beyond the arc. She shots 4-of-6 from the floor and hit 3-of-4 from three-point range. Gennett, who sat out last season after transferring from Sacramento State, twice set that program's single-season three-point field goal record and was named the 2016-17 Mountain West Preseason Newcomer of the Year.
CRAIGHEAD SIX WINS FROM 100th OF HER CAREER
With six more victories head coach Jamie Craighead will reach the 100-win career plateau. It will be her 49th win with SJSU and she will tie Karen Smith (1993-99) for third place on the program all-time wins list. The late Janice Richard (1999-2006) ranks second with 93 wins and Sharon Chatman (1977-86), with 143 victories, is the all-time leader in wins and is the only coach in SJSU women's basketball with a winning record (143-121/.542).
