Carson, Calif.----- Former San Jose State University football player Isaiah Irving hopes to duplicate his performance in the Spartans' 2016 season-ending win at Fresno State in the 2017 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, Saturday, January 21, at the StubHub Center.

Irving was a big part of San Jose State's defense limiting the Bulldogs to 13 points. While he was a part of six tackles, Irving was credited with a single-game career best 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 quarterback sacks.

For his career, Irving was credited with 140 tackles, 23.0 tackles for loss and 11.0 quarterback sacks. In 2016, Irving had personal single-season bests of 11.0 tackles for loss and a team-leading 7.0 quarterback sacks.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end is listed as a linebacker wearing #53 for National Team coached by one-time San Jose State assistant coach Mike Martz, the Spartans' wide receivers coach in 1975.

Irving is the second San Jose State player to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Defensive back Jimmy Pruitt, now with the New Orleans Saints, played in the 2016 game.
