San Jose, Calif. - Looking to change its fortunes after three-straight losses, the San Jose State women's basketball team will be in Las Vegas to face off against the UNLV Rebels on Saturday afternoon in a Mountain West Conference match up.

DEZZ RACING TO 1,000 POINTS IN RECORD TIME
SeniorDezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah) was the second-leading scorer in the Mountain West last season averaging 18.1 points per game and this season has up that to 21.8 through the first 20 games. She has scored 961 points in 49 games as a Spartans and is on pace to become just the second SJSU women's basketball player to score 1,000 points in her first two seasons. If she stays at her current scoring pace, she will reach 1,000 points in two more games, an overall total of 51 games. She would join SJSU Hall of Famer Lora Alexander as the only Spartan to accomplish the feat. Alexander passed 1,000-career points in her 55th game and finished her career with 1,019 points in 56 games.
TURNEY TIME
Taylor Turney (Fr., PG, Henderson, Nev.) has seen increased floor time in the Spartans seven conference games and it's paying dividends. In the team's game at Boise State, Turney scored a career-best 15 points, including going 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Since the start of MW play, Turney is playing 15.1 minutes per game, up from 8.8 in the non-conference schedule. She is averaging 7.1 points, more than double her 2.9 points in the 12 games before conference play began. With 22 assists (2.8/g), she has nearly tripled her per game output from the preseason (1.0/g).
STABLE STARTERS
Through 20 games, San José State has used exactly one starting lineup - Myzhanique Ladd (Jr., G, Seattle, Wash.), Paris Baird (Sr., F, Van Nuys, Calif.), Jasmine Smith (Sr., F, Burbank, Calif.), Rachol West (Sr., G, Bakersfield, Calif.) & Dezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah). Nineteen games in a row with the same starters, is the longest streak in head coach Jamie Craighead's four seasons in San Jose.
T-MINUS FOUR WINS TO 100
With four more victories, head coach Jamie Craighead will reach the 100-win career plateau. It will be her 49th win at SJSU tying her with Karen Smith (1993-99) for third place on the program all-time wins list. The late Janice Richard (1999-2006) ranks second with 93 wins and Sharon Chatman (1977-86), with 143 victories, is the all-time leader in victories and is the only coach in SJSU women's basketball with a winning record (143-121/.542).
RAMOS AMONG THE SCORING ELITE AT SJSU, IN THE MW AND THE NATION
With her 31-point effort in the Spartans 86-74 victory over Air Force (1/14), her sixth of the season and seventh of her Spartans career, Dezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah) ranks second on the MW list of single-season 30+ point games and first on the SJSU single-season and career lists. Through seven MW games her 25.8 ppg is nearly eight points higher than Wyoming's Liv Roberts' 17.9 ppg, who is in second place. Nationally, Ramos ranks 9th in total points (435) and 12th points per game (21.8).
After the UNLV game, when she has competed in 50 as a Spartans, she will have reached the minimum requirement for the program's career lists. However, through 49 games her SJSU totals would place her 1st in scoring average (19.6/g), 16th in points (961), 21st in field goals (331), 20th in field goal attempts (943), 9th in 3-point field goals (107), 10th in 3-point field goal attempts (311), 5th 3-point percentage (.344), 18th in free throws (192), second in free throw percentage (.857), and 14th in assists (221).
SMITH IS ONE OF FIVE
Having passed 1,000-career points in the Spartans game against Nevada (12/29) and surpassing 700-career rebound at Fresno State (1/7), Jasmine Smith (Sr., F, Burbank, Calif.) became the fifth player to wear the Gold, White and Blue and to have joined the exclusive 1,000/700 club. She joined Elinor Banks (1,672 pts./1,062 rebs.), Lamisha Augustine (1,226 pts./700 rebs.), Rhoda Chew (1,188 pts./946 rebs.) and Riana Byrd (1,034 pts./1,038 rebs.) as the only Spartans to reach the milestone.
Entering the Spartans game against UNLV, Smith ranks 13th on the career-scoring list (1,093) and fourth in career rebounds (747). She also ranks in the program's top-25 in field goals (#9 - 461), field goal attempts (#13 - 950), field goal percentage (#9 - .485), free throws (#21 - 171), free throw attempts (#13 - 335), offensive rebounds (#3 - 334), defensive rebounds (#6 - 413), rebounding average (#14 - 6.7/g), steals (#21 - 121), games (#10 - 112) and starts (#12 - 66).
