The San Jose State University women's water polo team seeks its first win in three matches when it faces the University of the Pacific in the first half of a doubleheader Sunday, February 19, in the 37th annual Aggie Shootout hosted by UC Davis.
The #16-ranked Spartans (3-7) and #11-ranked Tigers (2-4) begin their battle at 11:00 a.m. in the Schaal Aquatics Center. Pacific has matches in the Aggie Shootout against UC Davis and CSU Bakersfield on February 18 before facing the Spartans.
San Jose State was last in action at the Stanford Invitational. The Spartans finished sixth in the eight-team field. San Jose State's one win in the four-match weekend was a 10-9 decision over UC Davis, now ranked 12th nationally.
San Jose State closes out its day at the Aggie Shootout with a 1:45 p.m. match against unranked Occidental College (0-2).
Sophomore Carla Toha Vilanova is the team's top scorer with 18 goals. She is tied for tenth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in goals scored per match at 2.00. Donia Momen and Klaudia Paradi are next for San Jose State with nine goals each.
Starting goalkeeper Katelynn Thompson has 67 saves in 10 matches for the Spartans.
