San Jose, Calif.---- San José State University's final home game of the season did not go as the Spartans had hoped or planned.

San José State (14-14, 7-10 Mountain West) shot a season-low 25.8 percent in the first half en route to an 82-67 loss to Nevada (24-6, 13-4 Mountain West) in a Mountain West men's basketball game.

The Spartans scored two of the first three baskets in the game and never led after Brandon Mitchell's dunk at 16:56 in the first half for a 4-2 lead.

Nevada took advantage of San José State's cold shooting, took a 20-5 lead midway through the first half and led by as many as 24 points twice before going into the locker room with a 47-24 halftime lead.

The Spartans did rally in the second half cutting the deficit to 64-54 after a Brandon Clarke dunk with 10:56 to go, but got no closer.

Clarke was one of two San José State players in double-figure scoring with 13 points. Forward Ryan Welage led the Spartans with 16 points, 14 of them in the second half.

Guard Marcus Marshall led Nevada in scoring with 20. Four of the Wolf Pack's five starters were in double figures. D.J. Fenner with 15, Lindsey Drew with 14 and Cameron Oliver with 13 contributed to a balanced Nevada attack. The Wolf Pack picked up their fifth win in a row.

San José State shot 57.1 percent in the second half to finish with a 40.7 field goal percentage. The Spartans outrebounded the Wolf Pack, 39-37. Guard Isaac Thornton, one of three San José State players honored before the game on Senior Night, had a season-high 10 rebounds. Mitchell and Gary Williams, Jr., also played their final home game scoring 2 and 3 points, respectively.

The Spartans didn't help themselves making just 15-of-28 (53.6 percent) from the free throw line. In their previous three games, San Jose State converted 79.3 percent of its chances.

San José State seeks to end a three-game losing streak when they take on Wyoming, Saturday, March 4, to close out the regular season.
