Men's Golf Competing at Brandon Dunes Championship

San Jose, Calif. --- The San José State University men's golf team will travel to Brandon, Oregon for the Brandon Dunes Championship on March 12-14. The 8th annual Brandon Dunes Championship will be played at Old MacDonald Course hosted by Gonzaga University.

The par-72 6,893-yard course will feature a 16-team field that includes Seattle University, Utah Valley, Fresno State, Denver, Auburn (#23), Washington State, Texas A&M (#12), Oregon (#8), Gonzaga, Texas Tech (#11), CSU-Northridge, Boise State, Colorado (#21), Oregon State, San José State, Georgia State.

The Spartan's starting lineup at the Brandon Dunes Championship will be Kevin Velo, Scott Munger, Matthew Murray, William Barnett, and Henrik Sohlberg.

Last Time Out:

The San Jose State University men's golf team competed at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Arizona where they finished in 12th place at 13-over par, 877.

Kevin Velo tied for 36th, and finished the three-round tournament at one-under par. The last six times Velo has played he has carded four rounds at even par or better.

Scott Munger tied for 41st at three-over par. He shot even par 72 in the last two rounds of the tournament.

William Barnett tied for 58th at eight-over par, and improved each round at the tournament. In the final round Barnett shot a team low, four under par 68.

The last time the men's golf team competed at the Brandon Dunes Championship they finished in 12th place. The tournament was played at the par-71 Brandon Trails Course which measured 6,682-yards.

Matthew Murray tied for 51st, and led the Spartans at 19-over par.

Kevin Velo shot the lowest round for the Spartans with a 73, but shot 22-over par and tied for 58th.
