Men's Golf Travels to Duck Invitational
San Jose, Calif.--- The San José State University men's golf team will be traveling to Eugene, Oregon to play in the 28th annual Duck Invitational on March 27-28.
The Spartans are scheduled to play 54 holes over the course of two days. The first 36-holes will be played on March 27, and then the remaining 18-holes March 28. The tournament will be played on the par 71, 7,020-yard Eugene Country Club golf course.
The tournament will feature at 15 team field that includes Oregon, Arizona, Boise State, Denver, Gonzaga, Oregon State, San Diego, San Diego State, San José State, Seattle, UC Davis, UMKC, Utah, Washington State, and Wyoming.
Last Time Out: Kevin Velo captured his best career finish as a Spartan at the Bandon Dunes Championship. Velo tied for ninth place with a four under par 212. This was the first top ten finish of his career. Through nine rounds of play, in the months of February and March, Kevin Velo has led the Spartans with an average score of 71.11 strokes per round.
The Spartans placed 14th in the tournament with a three day score of 905.
Matthew Murray tied for 56th place shooting 10-over par 226. Scott Munger placed 76 after shooting 16-over par 232. Henrik Sohlberg and William Barnett tied for 86th with a 23-over par 239.
Previously at the Duck Invitational: The last time the Spartans competed at the Duck Invitational was in 2015. The team placed 10th after shooting 40-over par 904 in three rounds. Scott Munger and Matthew Ashley were both freshman the last time they competed at the Duck Invitational. Scott Munger tied for 41st shooting 10-over par 226. Matthew Ashley tied for 62nd shooting 16-over par 232.
