Men's Golf Struggles at The Goodwin

Stanford, Calif.--- The San José State University men's golf team struggled in round one at The Goodwin shooting 37 over-par 317. The Spartans placed 24th on the par 70 6,727-yard Stanford golf Course.

William Barnett led the Spartans in round one shooting seven-over par 77 and tied for 89th. Sean Talmadge is tied for 99th at 78. Kevin Velo is tied for 113th at 80. Scott Munger is tied for 119th at 82. Charles Thompson is in 124th place at 84.

Stanford is leading the tournament and is the only team under par. The Cardinals shot four-under 276 in round one. Washington is in second at three-over par.

On top of the players leaderboard is Washington's, Corey Pereira, who shot four under par 66. One stroke behind Pereira are Stanford's, Maverick McNealy and Franklin Huang, who are tied for second.
