Won, Heinl, Chan Finish 2017 At NCAA Seattle Regional

Seattle, Wash.-- San José State women's gymnasts Kaitlin Won, Taylor Chan and Rachel Heinl represented the university Saturday at the NCAA Seattle Regional inside the Alaska Airlines Arena.

Won placed 12th in the all-around with a 38.800. She received a 9.675 on vault and bars, 9.700 on floor and a 9.750 on beam. She finished the 2017 season being named a first team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honoree on bars, beam, floor and all-around and second team on vault. This was her first meet competing in the all-around in over a month since an injury limited her participation.

Chan finished the 2017 season with one of the most successful freshman year's in school history. She scored a 9.700 on floor Saturday to tie for 29th. Chan was named the 2017 MPSF Freshman of the Year and was the 2017 MPSF Co-Floor Champion. She tied the beam school record with a 9.900 at the MPSF Championships. She was a first team all-conference honoree in vault and floor, won a share of seven floor titles and was selected the MSPF Freshman of the Week seven times.

Heinl concluded her four-year Spartan career with a 9.725 on bars to tied for 28th. She was a first team All-MPSF honoree on bars and tied for eighth at the MPSF Championships.

The Spartans finished 2017 as the MPSF Champions, and Shella Martinez was named the MPSF Assistant Coach of the Year.
