SAN JOSE, Calif. -Matt Brown earned Mountain West Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors (April 3 - 9) after allowing just one hit over seven innings in picking up the 2-1 win against Mountain West leading New Mexico Lobos last Friday.
It is San José State's first Mountain West weekly honor in baseball since joining the league for the 2014 season.
The six-foot-six hurler pitched a career-high 7.0 innings and struck out six Lobos, matching a career-high. The lone hit allowed was a single in the fifth inning against a New Mexico lineup that came into the game batting .312 as a team.
Brown, a junior out of Benicia High School in Benicia, Calif., threw a total of 118 pitches in the game allowing one run.
Air Force's Adam Groesbeck was named conference's Player of the Week.
