Match Statistics

Tempe, Ariz.----- #4-ranked Arizona State University scored the first four goals and pulled away to an 11-3 win over #15-ranked San Jose State University in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's water polo match.

Carla Toha Vilanova, Cara Robinson and McKenna Yates scored for the Spartans (9-16, 0-4 MPSF). Toha Villanova's goal was San Jose State's only score of the first half and left the Spartans trailing 4-1 at halftime.

The Sun Devils (19-6, 3-3 MPSF) pulled away scoring the first seven goals of the second half. Rosie Huck, the match's leading scorer with three, scored back-to-back goals early in the fourth quarter to give Arizona State a 9-1 advantage.

Tayler Peters started in goal for San Jose State and was credited with three saves in the three quarters she played. Katelynn Thompson played the fourth quarter and was scored on four times.

Despite losing, the Spartans' power play defense continues its stinginess. Arizona State failed to score on any of its 12 power-play opportunities.

San Jose State concludes the regular season next weekend hosting CSU Bakersfield, Friday, April 21 at West Valley College and taking on #1-ranked Stanford, Saturday, April 22. Both MPSF matches are at 1:00 p.m.

The CSU Bakersfield match will be Senior Day for San Jose State seniors Robinson, goalkeeper Sara Northam, and Donia Momen.
