The 2016-17 San José State University women's golf team handed out awards on Thursday.

My Leander received the Player of the Year Award. She recorded the best scoring average in a season at 71.27 this year and was the 2016-17 Mountain West Women's Golf Player of the Year. She recorded 17 rounds under par this season. Leander won medalist titles at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic and Meadow Club Intercollegiate.

Franziska Friedrich was named the team's Scholar Athlete. Her best finish of the season was sixth at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic and shot four rounds under par. Her best round was a four-under 68 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.

Alexandra Cooper was named the Most Improved. She finished the season with a 75.97 stroke average, besting her freshman average by 2.35. Cooper shot a season-best 69 in the second round of the Silverado Showdown.
