June 2, 2017 Freshman long jumper Destiny Longmire and junior slugger Shane Timmons are the May Spartan Foundation Student-Athletes of the month, presented by O'Connor Hospital.Longmire won the long jump at the 2017 Mountain West Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Her 6.39-meter distance ranked 12th in the NCAA West Region and 25th in the country. She used that mark to move onto the NCAA Championship West Preliminaries in Austin, Texas, where she competed against the region's top long jumpers.Timmons batted .356 (16-for-45) during May with three home runs. He drove in 14 runs in 13 May contests. Seven of those 16 hits went for extra bases and Timmons showed his speed on two triples.
