For the fourth consecutive year, eight San Jose State University women's gymnasts are a 2017 National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Scholastic All-Americans.
To qualify for individual honor, the student-athlete must have a 3.50 grade-point average for an entire school year or throughout one's entire academic career.
Alisa Bogdan and Erica Matos are NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans for the third consecutive year. McElle McCartney, Stephanie Relova, Michelle Shalit and Kaitlin Won are two-time NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans. Chelsey Andrada and Karli Houghton each earned their first national academic award.
"I'm very proud of these athletes that were named a 2017 NACGC/W Scholastic All-American. Their dedication to their academics and their sport was evident this year," says San Jose State University women's gymnastics coach Wayne Wright of the 2017 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference champions.
As a team, the Spartans had a 3.3276 grade-point average and were 51st in team grade-point average. Southern Utah had the best cumulative team grade-point average at 3.8867.
