Brent Brennan Radio Show: The one-hour weekly Brent Brennan Radio Show airs on KLIV (1590 AM, San José), Thursdays, at 7:00 p.m. The show is taped each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Gordon Biersch in San José located at 33 E. San Fernando Street in downtown San Jose. Justin Allegri, "Voice of the Spartans," is the host.

Two at home to start a season: For the first time since 1981, San José State plays its first two games of a season at home with its September 2 Cal Poly game following the August 26 season-opener vs. #19/#21-USF. In 1981, the Spartans opened the season losing to UNLV, 16--6, and beating Santa Clara, 41-7 en route to a 9-3 win-loss record, the Pacific Coast Athletic Association championship and a trip to the California Raisin Bowl.
Seeking 1-1: The 2017 season marks the sixth consecutive season San José State can have a 1-1 win-loss record after two games. Twice, in 2012 and 2016, the Spartans won their second game of the season to improve to 1-1.
Plenty of chances to score: The 39 possessions in the San José State-USF game are the most in a San José State football game since the Spartans' 2016 home opener against Portland State. The Spartans and Vikings combined for 37 possessions, 19 by Portland State and 18 by San José State in a 66-35 Spartan win.
Potent first quarter: San José State's 16 points in the first quarter vs. USF are the most points by the Spartans to start a game since scoring 21 points at Hawai'i in a 42-23 victory on November 21, 2015.
900 Club: In a game with 64 combined points scored, there were more punting yards than total offense. San José State, with its 387 yards, and USF, with its 548 yards of total offense, combined for 935 yards of total offense. The two teams punted for 941 yards - 489 on 11 punts by the Spartans and 452 on 12 punts by the Bulls.
88 offensive plays: San José State's 88 plays on offense matched its most plays in a game since the September 3 season opening win over New Hampshire, 43-13. The school record for most plays in a game is 106 in a win over Long Beach State on October 27, 1979.
Lots of pass plays: San José State's 50 pass plays against #19-USF are the most attempts by the Spartans in a game since 51 passes in a 38-31 loss to Colorado State on November 1, 2014. USF tied a San José State opponent record becoming the third school to run 101 plays against the Spartans in a game.
Defense stops majority of USF drives: San José State's defense opened the season stopping 12 of USF's 19 possessions from resulting in points. The Spartans now have two games in a row dating back to the 2016 season-ending win at Fresno State in which the defense stopped the opposing team's offense from scoring on at least 10 possessions in a game not counting end of half nor end of game drives.
Paso Robles pair starts fast: Wide receiver Bailey Gaither and tight end Josh Oliver, a pair of Spartans from Paso Robles, Calif., grew up approximately 30 miles away from the Cal Poly campus. Both got off to good individual starts to the 2017 season in the USF game. Gaither led all players with 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He matched teammate Justin Holmes with a game-high and single-game career best six receptions. Oliver had single-game career bests of five catches for 51 yards.
