Seattle, Wash.----- Seattle University's Alex Roldan turned a loose ball in front of the San Jose State cage into a first-half goal leading the Redhawks to a 1-0 win over the Spartans in a Western Athletic Conference men's soccer match.

The only goal of the match came in the 30th minute and held up the rest of the way. San Jose State (2-7-1, 0-1-1 WAC) managed only three shots, all on goal. Leading scorer Jeremy Romero had two of them and Carlos Valdovinos had the other.

Alex Clewis was in goal for the Spartans for the first time in four matches and made four saves. He was credited with four saves. Seattle U's Josh Adachi recorded his sixth shutout of the season.

The Redhawks outshot the Spartans, 14-3, and were awarded four corner kicks to the Spartans' one.

San Jose State salvaged one point in the standings from the 1-1 tie at Utah Valley on September 29 on the first weekend of Western Athletic Conference action.

The Spartans play their first two conference home matches, Friday, October 6, vs. UNLV, at 1:00 p.m. and Grand Canyon University, Sunday, October 8, at 3:00 p.m.
