San José State women's golfer Abegail Arevalo has been selected as the Mountain West September Women's Golfer of the Month after her performance at the Colonel Wollenberg's Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Arevalo recorded her best career finish as she tied for second at eight-under par 208, and helped the Spartans to a second-place finish. She shot a career-best five-under 67 in the final after shooting 71-70 in the first two rounds. Arevalo led the tournament in par-three scoring at five under, and made 11 birdies and three eagles during her round.
Arevalo and her teammates headed back to the state of Colorado for this weekend's Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate from Friday to Sunday, October 6-8, at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
The Spartans are one of 13 teams playing the 6,450-yard, par-72 course over the three days. Teams participating include â€" Cal Poly, Washington State, Northern Arizona, Wyoming, South Dakota State, Tulsa, Oregon State, New Mexico, Pepperdine, Denver, Texas-San Antonio, Northern Colorado and the Spartans.

Teams begin play on Friday and Saturday with 9 a.m. MT tee times. The Spartans begin the tournament on Friday at 10:20 a.m. MT/9:20 a.m. PT off of hole #1 with New Mexico and South Dakota State. Saturday's round will begin with tee times off of #1 and #10 beginning at 9 a.m. MT, with Sunday's round a shot-gun start at 9 a.m. MT.
