Davis, Calif.----- Backstroke specialist Colleen Humel and diver Cari Reiswig continued their excellent seasons winning two events each in San Jose State University's 196-102 non-conference women's swimming and diving dual meet loss to UC Davis.

Humel was first in the 100 back and 200 back with times of 56.67 and 2:02.09, respectively, to extend her winning streak in backstroke events this season to 18 in a row. The senior from Chicopee, Mass., also swam the leadoff leg of the Spartans' winning 200 medley relay.

Coming off earning Mountain West Diver of the Week honors for the third time this season, Reiswig was the meet's top diver on the 1 and 3-meter boards. For the first time this season, she had scores above 300.00 in both events. The senior from Galt, Calif., had a 305.32 in the 1-meter and 333.90 in the 3-meter as a runaway winner. She finished first by more than 68 points in the 1-meter and almost 30 points on the 3-meter board.

Humel and Reiswig's individual event victories and the 200 medley relay win accounted for all five of the Spartans' triumphs in the 16-meet event.

"From a team standpoint, it was a rough day for us with almost 25 percent of our team out of the meet. Individually, we had many great performances from our swimmers and divers," said San Jose State University women's swimming and diving head coach Sage Hopkins, whose team now has a dual meet record of 5-3.

Freshman Shona Spikes was on the winning 200 medley relay team with Humel and pulled in a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 free at 24.28 and in the 100 breast with a 1:06.57 time.

The Spartans conclude their dual meet season, Saturday, January 27, at Fresno State. First event is at 12:00 p.m.
