Shane Timmons Named to 2018 All-MW Preseason Team

The San José State University men's baseball team was picked to finish seventh in the Mountain West in a poll of the conference's head coaches.

New Mexico was picked to finish first earning three first place votes and 31 overall points. The Lobos were the 2017 conference champions with a record of 19-9-1 in the Mountain West.

Senior first baseman Shane Timmons was named to the 2018 All-Mountain West Preseason Team in a separate vote by the Mountain West coaches.

Timmons is a three-time letter winner from Mission Viejo, Calif., who has started in 103 of the last 104 games for the Spartans. No San José State baseball player has more homers the last three seasons than Timmons with 18. He is currently tied for fifth in all-time in home runs with Brandon Macchi who played from 1999-01. The current home run record was set nearly 20 years ago by John Fagan with 25.

In 2017, Timmons led the team in slugging percentage (.510), RBI (46), triples (2), homeruns (10), total bases (104), hit by pitch (13), sacrifice flies (7) and multiple RBI games (12).

San José State University opens the season hosting a four-game series against Northern Colorado University beginning February 16 at Municipal Stadium at 6:00 p.m.
