Saratoga, Calif.-Spartans Nandyala Gama and Lyndi Scholl defeated the top California team, but San José State fell to California, 4-1, Friday afternoon in a dual at West Valley College.
Gama and Scholl swept Jessica Gaffney and Iya Lindahl, 21-12 and 21-15. They improved their record to 4-1 on the season.
All four other pairs were swept in straight sets. Ciara Reistad and Julia Golbeck pushed their second set to 21-19, while Thaliana Grajeda and Luiza Andrade also pushed in the second set before falling 22-20.
The Spartans play at Stanford on Wednesday, March 7, at 3:30 p.m.
