Falcons Capitalize On Walks In 19-3 Victory Over Spartans

Colorado Springs. Colo. --- The San Jose State University baseball team (10-16, 3-8 MW) fell 19-3 against Air Force (11-15, 5-7 MW) Saturday afternoon in the final game of the three-game series at Falcon Field.

The Spartans allowed 10 walks and six doubles in the first four innings and 11 walks in the game which helped the Falcons to take an 18-2 lead.

The bright light in today's game came from Shane Timmons. Timmons moved up to tie for third on the San Jose State all-time home runs list when he homered to left center in the first. He has hit three home runs this season, and has a total of 21 in his career. The senior is four homers away from tying the leader John Fagan with 29 games left to play in the regular season.

This season, Timmons leads the team with 22 RBI's.

Connor Konishi recorded his first multi-hit game of his Spartan career against the Falcons. He singled to the pitcher in the second, and got on base with a bunt in the fourth inning.

The winning pitcher on the day was Tyler Mortenson (1-4). Mortenson allowed just two runs and six hits through 7.0 innings.

Josh Zanger (1-2) took the loss for the Spartans. Cameron Keup, Jake Swiech, Frank Scalzo, Jr., and Wesley Clawson all saw time on the mound.

The Spartans will return to action Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. when they travel to UC Davis.
