Irving, Texas----- San Jose State University football offensive lineman Nate Velichko was named to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's Hampshire Honor Society.
To qualify, a football student-athlete must have completed his final year of eligibility in 2017 achieved a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and meet all requirements for graduation.
Velichko completed his four-year college football career with 43 starting calls in the Spartans' offensive line at every position except for center. He was an honorable mention All-Mountain West offensive lineman as a sophomore, a four-time Academic All-Mountain West honoree and a three-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.
The kinesiology major is a three-time San Jose State University Dean's Scholar and a 2017 semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's William V. Campbell Trophy, regarded as the academic equivalent to the Heisman Trophy.
A record number 1,251 players from 302 institutions that sponsor a college football program were honored in the 12th year of the Hampshire Honor Society. Nearly 9,000 student-athletes have been recognized since the program's inception in 2007.
