San Jose, Calif. -- The San Jose State University women's tennis team was swept, 7-0, by the University of Nevada on in a Mountain West match. The Spartans' record dropped to 11-8.
"Obviously, it was a disappointment with the final score. We had some opportunities early in doubles and had three people battling in singles," said San José State head coach Chad Skorupka, who changed up the doubles pairs against Nevada.
Senior Sybille Gauvain at #1 and freshman Laura Malsert at #6 both played close matches, forcing second-set tiebreakers, but came up short. Gauvain and Malsert, lost their matches 7-5, 7-6 (15-13) and 6-0, 7-6 (10-7), respectively.
San Jose State's Miyo Kobayashi took her opponent to three sets at #3-singles match. Kobayashi lost to Blaga Delic 6-2, 2-6, 0-1 (7-10).
The final regular-season match is Saturday, April 21 at San Diego State starting at 12:00 p.m.
