San Jose State University concludes its women's water polo regular season hosting #2-Stanford in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) match on Senior Day, Sunday, April 22, at the West Valley College Aquatics Center. Match time is noon.
The #19-ranked Spartans (9-16, 0-4 MPSF) will be honoring their six seniors -- goalkeepers Katelynn Thompson and co-captain Tayler Peters, co-captain Vanessa Elgohary, one-time junior college transfers Jennifer Liu and Jordan Milich-Misikini, and Klaudia Paradi before the contest. San Jose State also will recognize Stanford's four seniors -- goalkeeper Julia Hermann and field players Jordan Raney, Katie Dudley and Shannon Cleary.
The match with the #2-ranked Cardinal (15-2, 2-2 MPSF) is the second meeting between these teams this season and is the first of two in a six-day span. San Jose State and Stanford are first-round opponents in the MPSF Tournament that begins Friday, April 27, at 11:00 a.m. in Berkeley. The Cardinal won the first meeting between these teams this season, 15-4, at the Cal Cup in January.
The Spartans' final regular-season match also marks the fourth time San Jose State is facing a team ranked #2 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's weekly national coaches poll.
There is no admission charge for San Jose State women's water polo home matches at West Valley College.
