MPSF post-season honors

Woodland, Calif.------ Senior Klaudia Paradi and junior Guara Garcia Delgado were the two San Jose State University players named to the 2018 All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) women's water polo teams.

Paradi was named an honorable mention selection for the second year in a row in a vote by the league's coaches. Garcia Delgado also was named an honorable mention choice and to the conference's All-Newcomer team.

Best known for her defense, Paradi is fourth in goal scoring on this year's San Jose State team with 20 goals.

"'Pakka' (Paradi) has been a very solid 2-meter defender for us. She always guards the opposing team's best player. She's had a good season and I'm glad the other the coaches recognized her for that," said San Jose State head coach Gabor Sarusi.

Heading into the MPSF Tournament on April 27 against Stanford, Garcia Delgado shares the team lead in scoring with 26 goals. She has game-winning scores against CSUN in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational, Wagner in the Harvard Invitational, and Marist in the fifth overtime of the LMU Invitational.

"Guara has made an impact on our team since day one. She was a very good all-around player for us this year. Our opponents had to account for her when she was playing," the Spartans head coach said about the only transfer named to the All-Newcomer team. Garcia Delgado came to San Jose State after two seasons at the University of La Verne.

The MPSF Tournament match with Stanford begins at 11:00 a.m. (PT) in the Spieker Aquatics Complex on the University of California campus. Live streaming on a subscription basis is available at www.mpsf.org/collegesportslive.
