She was named the Swimmer of the Meet at the 2018 CSCAA National Invitational, had a 20-race winning streak in backstroke races during the season, and earned All-Mountain West honors in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 200 medley relay.

Fonseca qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championships for the second year in a row. She placed 33rd in the 3-meter and 44th in the 1-meter at the zone meet in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Senior Brittany Heng, an All-Mountain West award winner in the 50 freestyle and 200 medley relay, received the "Most Improved" and the Spartan Award for her personification of the classic Spartan.

Juniors Brenna Bushey and Taylor Lehr and senior Cari Reiswig shared the team's Scholar-Athlete Award. Freshman backstroke specialist Madison Grimes was named "Rookie of the Year."

The team's "Performance of the Year" was the 200 medley relay team of Humel, freshman Shona Spikes, Bushey and Heng that set a school record and placed third I the first event of the Mountain West Championships with a time of 1:38.36.
