San Jose, Calif. --- Shane Timmons was named Mountain West Player of the Week for his performance against Air Force last weekend at Municipal Stadium.
"Shane Timmons has carried us at times this year," said interim head coach Brad Sanfilippo. "It was special to see him break the home run record on a weekend that meant so much to us."
The senior batted .545 with seven RBI, a grand slam, .909 slg%, and a .615 ob% to sweep Air Force and give the Spartans their most conference wins since 2008 with 16.
In the 3-1 win to open the series Thursday night he went 3-for-3 and scored two runs to put the Spartans within one win of the conference tournament.
On Friday, May 18 he recorded all six of the team's RBI's.
In the bottom of the third he hit a grand slam that broke San José State's career all-time record of 25 homers set by John Fagan nearly 20 years ago. Then he had the game winning RBI to send the Spartans into the Mountain West Tournament.
