Coral Springs, Fla.-For the second consecutive year, San José State women's golfer Franziska Friedrich has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar for the 2017-18 season.
Friedrich is one of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar team are a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.50 or higher. Friedrich is a business administration/international business major, a San José State Dean's Scholar and a Mountain West Scholar Athlete.
This past season, Friedrich played in 26 rounds with a 74.54 stroke average. She shot six rounds under par including a two-under 69 in the first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate.
About the Women's Golf Coaches Association
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
