San Jose State 14th In Preseason Men's Water Polo National Poll

Bridgeport, Pa.----- With eight returning letterwinners from last year's squad that finished with a 13-15 win-loss record, San Jose State is 14th in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's top-20 preseason poll.

Junior Ashley Castle and sophomore Justin Pickering are the top returning goal scorers with 20 goals each.

Junior Todd Palmer started 24 matches last season and was fourth in the Golden Coast Conference with 175 saves and tied for fifth in the conference with 7.00 saves per match.

The Spartans are counting on a number of newcomers making an immediate impact in 2014.

The season begins with a series of exhibition matches Saturday, September 1 at Santa Clara University. The Spartans play Stanford at 9:00 a.m., West Valley College at 11:20 a.m. and an Alumni-Master's squad at 12:30 p.m.

The regular season begins Saturday, September 6 when San Jose State hosts UC Davis in a 4:00 p.m. non-conference contest at West Valley College.
