Women's Soccer Set For Road Contest At Cal Poly

SAN JOSE, Calif. -SJSU women's soccer will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., for a Thursday night battle at Cal Poly. The Spartans enter the match 0-2-0 after a pair of tough one-goal losses to No. 19 Santa Clara and Portland. First kick is slated for a 7:00 p.m. PT start.

LAST TIME OUT
SJSU traveled to Portland to take on the Pilots in a homecoming match for recently announced 2018 Portland Athletics Hall of Fame Class member Lauren Hanson. The Spartans fought hard through regulation forcing overtime where Portland was able to score in the 92nd minute to take a 1-0 victory.

MEET THE OPPONENT - CAL POLY MUSTANGS
Cal Poly enters Thursday's match 0-2-1. The Mustangs are coming off a two-game losing skid to No. 8 USC (6-1) and Boise State (2-0). Cal Poly is led by head coach Alex Crozier, who is entering his 27th season at the helm.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 12th overall meeting between the Spartans and Mustangs with Cal Poly holding an 8-3 advantage, however SJSU was the victor in the last meeting. The Spartans defeated Cal Poly 1-0 on September 8, 2017, as Gabriella Hurtado netted the game-winner on a free kick in the 49th minute. The win broke a six-game losing skid for the Spartans.

SIMONEAU STANDING STRONG IN THE GOAL
Spartans goalkeeper Paige Simoneau has posted back-to-back five-save performances to open the 2018 season. The Corona, Calif., product is carrying a 76.9 save percentage into Thursday's match.
