Each Monday check out This Week in San José State Athletics to catch up on last week's action and see what's ahead for the Spartans!

Football (0-6, 0-2 Mountain West)
Last Week: San José State lost to Army West Point, 52-3.
This Week: The Spartans travel to San Diego State this Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. kick.
Spartan Fact: San José State's last win on the road was a 16-14 victory over Fresno State to conclude the 2016 season. Since then, the Spartans are 0-8 on the road.

Volleyball (8-9, 3-5 Mountain West)
Last Week: San José State defeated Nevada, 3-1, at home last Tuesday night and then went on the road to win at Air Force, 3-2, Thursday night.
This Week: The Spartans host two matches this week - Thursday vs. San Diego State at 6 p.m., and Saturday vs. Fresno State at 2 p.m. Both matches to be played at Spartan Gym, located on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets.
Spartan Fact: Senior libero Luiza Andrade recorded a team-best 17 digs against Air Force and moved into second place on the San José State career digs list. She starts the week with 1,428 digs, passing Dawnis Wilson who had 1,412 digs from 1988-91.

Women's Soccer (7-6-2, 6-2-0 Mountain West)
Last week: The Spartans split a pair of home MW matches, defeating Colorado State, 1-0, last Friday before falling to Wyoming, 3-2, in overtime on Sunday.
This Week: SJSU goes on the road for matches at Utah State on Friday and at conference-leader Boise State on Sunday.
Spartan Fact: Paige Simoneau set the school record for career shutouts this past Friday night with a 1-0 win over Colorado State. She was tied at 16 with former teammate and current volunteer assistant coach Zoe Makrigiannis. Simonean made just one save in her 17th career shutout.

Men's Soccer (5-6-2, 3-2-1 Western Athletic)
Last week: The Spartans lost to Cal Baptist, 1-0.
This Week: San José State goes on the road for matches at Air Force on Thursday and at Utah Valley on Saturday.
Spartan Fact: The Spartans took 21 shots against CBU, 10 on goal, and had 10 corner kicks on Sunday.

Men's and Women's Cross Country
Last Week:
The Spartans traveled to Wisconsin for the adidas/Pre-National Invitational. The women finished 16th, defeating Nevada and Cal. The men also finished in 16th place.
Spartan Fact (Women): Jennifer Sandoval finished in 35th place with a time of 20:58.2, her fastest 6K time this season.
Spartan Fact (Men): Jose Piña finished 17th with a season-best time of 24:07.09.

Women's Golf
Last Week:
San José State finished sixth at the Illini Women's Invitational at the Medinah Country Club.
This Week: The Spartans end the fall season this upcoming weekend at the Stanford Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course.
Spartan Fact: Abegail Arevalo finished tied for fourth at eight-under 208 and shot a two-under 70 in the final round. She birdied her final hole of the day to move into fourth place.

Men's Golf
Last Week:
San José State finished third at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, shooting a 26-under par, 826 team total.
This Week: The Spartans are practicing this week in preparation for next week's Visit Stockton Pacific Open, October 25-27.
Spartan Fact #1: The 26-under par and 826 team total was their best score in relation to par since the 2015 Alister MacKenzie Invitational when SJSU was 27-under (825).
Spartan Fact #2: Kevin Velo birdied six of the final 10 holes to shoot a five-under 66 to finish the tournament at seven-under 206 and tie for 10th place.

Women's Tennis
This Week: The Spartans will compete at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at Stanford.

Men's Water Polo (4-11, 0-1)
Last Week:
The Spartans finished 16th at the MPSF Invitational after falling to Stanford (19-8), UC Irvine (8-7), Santa Clara (13-9) and Pomona Pitzer (11-9).
This Week: The team plays at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, hosting matches on Saturday at West Valley College, before shifting to Santa Clara University on Sunday.
Spartan Fact: Goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with nine save for three consecutive matches this past weekend.

Women's Swimming & Diving
Last Week: The Spartans finished fifth at the Pacific Invitational.
This Week: The Spartans will compete for two days in Bakersfield - Friday at the CSUB Sprint Classic and Saturday at the Roadrunner Invitational.
Spartan Fact: The team had two second-place finishers on Saturday - Brenna Bushey in the 100 fly and the 200 free relay team consisting of Madelyn Sailors, Gabby Heng, Taylor Lehr and Antoinette Loya.
