Bakersfield, Calif. ----- For the first time this season, San Jose State placed first in an event winning the 200 freestyle relay at the CSUB Sprint Classic at the John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center on the CSU Bakersfield campus.
The team of Madelyn Sailors, Taylor Lehr, Gabby Heng and Antoinette Loya finished with a winning time and season best of 1:35.39.
Timed in 7:42.15, the 800 free relay quartet of Katie McIntee, Taylor Lehr, Gabby Heng and Kendal Guy also swam a season best for the Spartans.
San Jose State had eight season bests and an entry finish in the top-10 in every event of the meet. Finishing fourth in the 200 medley relay, the team of Violani Auva'a, Angelika Yngson, Brenna Bushey and Gabby Heng posted a time of 1:47.45.
Jamie Dodd finished seventh in the 400 IM with a season-best time of 4:34.48. Chloe Limargo, Kate Hanf and Daria Cocol also had season bests in the 400 IM.
Bushey was fourth in the 50 backstroke with a time of 26.75 and sixth in the 50 butterfly at 25.63. Gabby Heng had a very busy day finishing third in the 50 freestyle at 24.16.
In the team scoring, the Spartans finished in third place with 295.5 points, behind winner Hawai'i ( 377) and runner up CSU Bakersfield (369).
The Spartans wrap up a weekend in Bakersfield returning to the Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center for the Roadrunner Invitational. First event begins at 10:00 a.m.
