Eight A-Final Placements Cap Off Minnesota Invite

Minneapolis, Minn. –––– The final day of the three-day Minnesota Invitational yielded another great number of successes for San Jose State swimmers. Eight swimmers finished in A-final places led by Taylor Lehr and Gabby Heng.
 
In the 200 backstroke, a duo of Spartan sprinters, Gabriela Vieira and Violani Auva'a, placed in sixth and seventh, respectively. Vieira finished with a 2:03.22 and Auva'a, 2:03.83.
 
Lehr and Heng swam their way to the top-three places in the 100 freestyle, with Lehr coming in second at 50.61 and Heng in third at 50.69. This marks both Lehr and Heng's third A-final placements of the meet.
 
Three Spartan swimmers posted A-final times in the 200 breaststroke. Chloe Limargo and Angelika Yngson finished fifth and sixth respectively, with 2:21.36 and 2:22.77. Kate Hanf followed up in eighth with 2:24.25.
 
Jamie Dodd was the sole A-final swimmer for San Jose State in the 200 butterfly. She came in fifth place, finishing with a time of 2:05.32.

Overall, Spartan swimmers competed in an A-final individual event 20 times in three days to help the team finish second in the team scoring with 777 points. Utah was first with 1,420 points.
 
In the 400 freestyle relay, two Spartan teams made the top four. The A-team (Brenna Bushey, Heng, Lehr, Katie McIntee) finished second with 3:22.98, followed by the B-team (Antoinette Loya, Madelyn Sailors, Kendal Guy, Makenna Mathieson) finished fourth with 3:31.00.

The Spartans' next meet is a dual meet versus the University of California in Berkeley on December 19 at 12.00 p.m.
