La Jolla, Calif. ––––– Natasha Sondeno won both diving events for the second consecutive day and Taylor Lehr finished first overall in the 100 freestyle in a four-way women's swimming and diving meet with Incarnate Word, Wyoming and host UC San Diego.
The Spartans (1-3) easily defeated Incarnate Word, 216-63, and were edged by UC San Diego, 155-143. There were no dual meet scores kept between San Jose State and Wyoming.
Sondeno posted winning totals of 239.84 in the 1-meter and 268.95 in the 3-meter dives. Megan Au made it a 1-2 Spartan finish in the 1-meter with her 232.58 score. Au also was fourth overall in the 3-meter with a 249.23 total.
Lehr turned in a winning time of 52.65 in the 100 free. Gabby Heng gave the Spartans a second 1-2 finish on the day with her 52.94 clocking. Lehr was one of the busiest swimmers on the day placing fourth in the 200 free and helping San Jose State to second places in the 400 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Gabriela Vieira and freshmen Madelyn Sailors and Chloe Limargo added three more overall second-place finishes to the six by San Jose State for the day. Vieira was second in the 100 butterfly; Sailors, in the 50 free; and Limargo in the 200 breaststroke.
Vieira's day also included a third in the 100 backstroke in 58.74. Jamie Dodd's 2:09.84 in the 200 butterfly and Antoinette Loya's 24.38 in the 50 freestyle gave the Spartans three individual third-place finishes in the swimming events.
San Jose State concludes its week of action at the USD Shootout Saturday, January 5.
